Personal

Y’all this colorful, energetic, hilarious session with the Castro family brought so much laughter and light into my day! Their family session at Market Square in San Antonio taught me something that I’ve suspected for a long time: boy moms have so much fun!! Where are my other boy moms at? Don’t you agree?! It seems like there’s always another adventure around the corner and I love that. Although I’m sure it can be exhausting, between the wrestling and the tickle fights and good ol’ baby shark, I had a total blast with the Castro family!

Market Square

The Castros really wanted their session done at Market Square this year, and I can’t blame them! Amber told me that because they didn’t get to go to Fiesta this year, they really wanted some family photos with the same fun colors! Plus this is probably the least crowded it’s ever gonna be (thanks covid) so now was the time to do it. It’s such a beautiful cultural hub boasting numerous little shops and restaurants with that San Antonio Mexican flair! Bright colors, fun music, unique items. It’s a place that every San Antonio resident should visit at least once.

I had never shot at market square before. And despite the smaller crowds due to covid, I was still worried about there just being too many people. I can only edit out so much! But we pulled up to Market Square, and it really wasn’t too bad! There were definitely people there, but we were able to find some side alleys that gave us enough distance from the crowds while still getting the fun colors Amber loved! Their family session at Market Square might be just the push I needed to make it a new favorite!

Baby Shark

These cute boys were so adorably fun to hang out with! Their laughs were infectious, and their energy was contagious. I’d been having a bit of a hard day before their session, but their cute personalities turned my day completely around! I usually encourage my families to bring small treats as rewards and an eye-catching toy or two in case I need help keeping the little ones’ attention. Baby shark for the win! Not only did their little baby shark toy help me keep the boys’ eyes on me, it also added a lot of laughter to the session! That thing tried to “eat” me, the plants, my bag, Kyle’s face… you name it!

And I wasn’t the only one jumping around, making silly faces, and singing at the top of my lungs. You know, just embarrassing myself in public. Nothing new here. Well, I couldn’t do these family photo sessions without my favorite guy. Kyle is always so so supportive of everything I do. And when he isn’t at the hospital working or cramming for a test, he comes with me to my family sessions to help make the sweet kids laugh. What a guy! I couldn’t ask for a better partner to do life with.

Thank You!

Castro family, thank you so much for a wonderful family session! It was such a hoot hanging out with you guys, capturing those fun moments. These years go by so fast. You’ll want these photos to look back on, to remember what it was like when they were tiny. Here are some of my favorite from your session! Enjoy!

It all started when I went in Thursday night (5/5/22) to be induced at Children’s Hospital. (well, actually it started 39 weeks earlier, but whatever). No one thought I would make it to term due to Addy’s growth restriction and my perinatal depression. I was incredibly desperate to be done with being pregnant around 30 […]
